William Morgan | William MorganMORGAN, WILLIAM (1851-1918) was born in County Kildare, Ireland, and brought up in Galway as a saddler. He came to New Zealand in the Dunfillan in 1874. He was for some years in business at Cromwell, Otago, and Roxburgh, where he was on the borough council, and moved to Gisborne in 1883. There he was chairman of the school committee (from 1886) and secretary and treasurer of the Gisborne High School and Technical School board of governors, a member of the Hawke's Bay education board, and president of the chamber of commerce (1900-01).
