William Douslin | William DouslinDOUSLIN, WILLIAM, was an architect by profession and a man of some inventive genius. He came to New Zealand from Tasmania at the time of the Wakamarina rush and settled in Marlborough, first at Havelock and later in Blenheim, where he was mayor in 1887. He represented Pelorus in the Marlborough Provincial Council (1865-75) and was in the executive in 1865-66. Douslin afterwards went to South Africa, and was employed by the Chartered Company in Rhodesia. Cycl. NZ, v; Buick, Marlborough, 452.
