Searby Buxton | Searby BuxtonBUXTON, SEARBY (1832-1919) was born in Lancashire, came to New Zealand in 1865 and took up land at Springston, Canterbury, and later at Rangitata Island. Eventually he acquired the Clifton station in Totara Valley, where he farmed until retiring to live in Ashburton. Buxton in 1887 contested the Rangitata seat in Parliament and defeated Rolleston. At the following election he stood for Geraldine and was defeated by A. E. G. Rhodes.
