Michael Maher

MAHER, MICHAEL (1830-74) was born in London of Irish stock, and came to New Zealand with his parents in one of the first three ships to arrive at Nelson (Jan 1842). Some years later he took up farming on the Waimea plain, moved again to Wairau, and finally settled in the Kaituna district. He represented Pelorus in the Marlborough Provincial Council (1863-65). Maher died in Jan 1874.
