Joseph Dresser Tetley | Joseph Dresser TetleyTETLEY, JOSEPH DRESSER, who lived at Aiskew House, Bedale, Yorkshire, appears to have arrived in New Zealand about 1857. He took up land at Kekerengu, which he worked as a sheep station. In 1867 he purchased Starborough, and in 1869 was interested in a large block of confiscated land at Taupo. His wife, a daughter of Sir M. Dodsworth, died in the West Indies en route to New Zealand. Tetley was member for Picton in the Provincial Council (1867-69) and of the Legislative Council for the same period, but never attended after being sworn in.
