Huntly John Harry Eliott | Huntly John Harry EliottHUNTLY JOHN HARRY ELIOTT, son of the above, was born in Auckland in 1843 and educated there. He joined the Colonial Secretary's department in 1858, became chief clerk in the Public Works department 1870, and in 1877 Under-Secretary for Lands and Immigration. He was Under-Secretary for Mines when he retired (1905). Subsequently he acted on several royal commissions. A son, Gordon Eliott, was M.P. for Oroua (1925-28). Who's Who N.Z., 1908; D.
