Henry Alexander Tarrant | Henry Alexander TarrantTARRANT, HENRY ALEXANDER (1832-1907) was born in Middlesex, was educated at a private school, and farmed for a few years before emigrating to Nelson in the Agra (1852). For five years he laid out roads under the survey department, and as county engineer for Waimea he constructed many roads and bridges. He represented Motueka in the Provincial Council (1869-75). Tarrant was 12 years a member and three years chairman of the Nelson education board, and was a prominent Anglican churchman. He died on 15 Mar 1907.
