HUME, FERGUS (1859-1932) was born in England and educated at the Otago Boys' High School and Otago University. Becoming a barrister, he spent three years in Melbourne and settled in England in 1888. His first novel, The Mystery of a Hansom Cab, was published in 1887 and was followed by Madame Midas (1888) and many others. Hume died on 12 Jul 1932.
