Charles Bigg Wither | Charles Bigg WitherWITHER, CHARLES BIGG, was born in Hampshire and educated at Winchester School and Edinburgh University. He came to New Zealand in the Ursula (1843), and took up a run in the Vernon Hills, in the Wairau district, and later a farm at Richmond. In 1863 he was called to the Legislative Council, but he resigned a few months later. He was a governor of Nelson College (1858) and a justice of the peace.
