Arthur William Morris | Arthur William MorrisMORRIS, ARTHUR WILLIAM (1825-1910) was born at Irvine, Ayrshire, brought up there and engaged in business. In 1856 he bought the ship Dunedin, which he freighted with merchandise for New Zealand and established himself in business in Dunedin. On the formation of the Otago and Southland Investment Co. Morris was appointed manager and he held that position for many years. From 1879 he was a director of the Union Steamship Co. He was a member of First Church, Dunedin, for 40 years, and was an elder both there and at Anderson's Bay. He represented Peninsula in the Otago Provincial Council (1863-67). He died on 12 May 1910.
