Arthur Pyne O'Callaghan | Arthur Pyne O'CallaghanO'CALLAGHAN, ARTHUR PYNE (1837-1930), who was born in Fermoy, Ireland, graduated B.A. at Dublin University in 1859, and two years later was ordained in the Anglican Church. Arriving in Lyttelton by the Greyhound in 1863, he spent two years in the Oxford parish, and resigned to take up farming in the Lincoln district and on the Peninsula. He was a member of the Springs road board (1882-88) and represented Lincoln in the House of Representatives as a supporter of the Liberal party (1881-88). For some years he was in charge of the lands department in South Canterbury, and in 1897 he was appointed supervising valuer in Christchurch. He retired in 1902 and died on 17 Dec 1930.
