Andrew Duncan | Andrew DuncanDUNCAN, ANDREW (1834-80) was born in the west of Scotland and came to Canterbury with his parents in 1858. After working for a while he established himself in business as a nurseryman and seedsman. He represented Heathcote in the Provincial Council (1867-70 and 1871-73) and was on the executive in 1869 and 1872. In 1870 he was mayor of Christchurch. He once contested a Parliamentary seat against E. J. Wakefield. Duncan was a member of the education board (sometime chairman), the waste lands board, and the South Waimakariri board of conservators.
